Half Term Round-up
Date: 02 November 2021

Over the half term break, our year 7, 8 and 9 groups were involved in 3 inter-Academy matches.

On the Monday, a Year 7 team overcame a spirited Year 6 group who fielded 18 players over the course of a 70 minute match played over three thirds. The first third saw the Year 7's come from 2-0 down to take the lead at 5-4. The goals continued to flow in an all out attack minded game, the final score finishing 14-7 to the 7's. There was some excellent football and finishing on show from both teams which bodes well for the goal scoring future of the island's representative sides!

Wednesday saw a different Year 7 side go up against some of the Year 8's. The 7's took a 3-0 lead at the half in a much closer first half than the scoreline suggested. The 8's main failing was in front of goal which was down to a well organised and marshalled backline by the 7's. Some second half injuries added to the Year 8's woes and aided in giving the 7's a comfortable win.

Friday saw arguably the most competitive game of the week. A physically strong Year 9 team faced up against another Year 8 group. The superior speed and strength of the 9's help give them a 4-0 half time lead, which somewhat flattered them as the 8's had definitely played some of the better football. They continued this in the second period, and despite conceding first, they fought back to win the second half. The score finished 5-2.

Thank you to all the players who took part. We will look at putting on some more inter-Academy matches later in the season.
