The GFA Aztec Foundation Academy U11s narrowly defeated the Rovers Corbet Cup
Date: 17 November 2015

The GFA Aztec Foundation Academy U11s narrowly defeated the Rovers Corbet Cup team in an exciting and entertaining match at Port Soif.

The Academy players were first to react with time almost up to make the score 4-3 after Rovers goalkeeper Daniel Troop could only push a save back into the penalty area, and then a solo effort in added time from Jacques Cauvain put a gloss on the final result, 5-3 to Aztec.

The match was evenly contested and the lead changed hands a number of times at a windy Port Soif.  Coach, Tony Vance, was particularly pleased with the way the players responded when out of possession, something he had asked the players to work on during the three 20 minute periods.  It was also rewarding to see the newly recruited players integrate seamlessly into the group and not look out of place following the recent reviews undertaken.  For the record the U11 Academy goals were scored by Shay Goddard, Jacques Cauvain and an excellent hat-trick from Josh Penney.
